We want to send a special thank you to our volunteer penpal Amanda. She has worked hard to do everything she could for this family while the father was detained. This message is from her penpal's mother. This immigrant husband and father of two young girls had a valid visa through December 2025, but was being held at Phelps County Jail. When he first spoke to Amanda - he told her he wanted to self deport. Even self deportation takes time. He was held for over 90 days through physical and mental health issues, begging to go back to his county - and to take his family with him. When undocumented immigrants have children who are US citizens, they cannot be with their families in their country until they have a passport - which is expensive, especially when you can no longer work. Passports can be difficult to obtain. Abide in Love helps in this process with assistance from Rapid Response whenever we can. ************ We would like to report that Amanda’s penpal is almost back in his home country with his mother and we are hopeful his wife and daughters will be arriving soon. We are anxiously awaiting the photo of the family finally together again. Amanda has given a mother, a wife, and two little girls information, hope, and prayers for over 90 days through one of the hardest things they’ll go through. She was their lifeline.
